About Us

The Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-PA) has thousands of members who live and work in the State of Pennsylvania. We support the state's more than 40,000 licensed social workers and social work students.

The Chapter works with allied organizations to build coalitions, advocate for the behavioral health workforce, expand educational opportunities, and promote causes and services that improve society. NASW-Pennsylvania works to get social workers and our allies elected to all levels of office, as well as helps shape legislation that advances and supports the social work profession, our clients, and the communities in which we live.

Our office is located in Mechanicsburg (1000 Bent Creek Blvd, Suite 40). Our State Chapter is then broken into 9 regions called "Divisions," each with a Regional Representative. Learn more about our Board of Directors and staff.

Our Mission

NASW-Pennsylvania has a dual mission to (1) promote, develop and protect the practice of social workers in Pennsylvania and (2) enhance the effective functioning and well-being of individuals, families and communities in Pennsylvania through its work and advocacy.

About the National Association of Social Workers

NASW is a membership organization that advocates for all social workers, nationally and locally, and works to shape public policy and advance the role of social work in effecting social change. NASW also develops and maintains a set of standards that guide the professional conduct of social workers called the "NASW Code of Ethics".

All social workers in the U.S. benefit from NASW’s advocacy, but this work is made possible only through your membership. Learn more about NASW and sign up today at www.socialworkers.org.

Our Purpose:

  • To promote the quality and effectiveness of social work practice in the United States.
  • To improve conditions of life in our democratic society using social work knowledge and skills.
  • To help maintain and promote high standards for social work practice and preparation for practice.
