Bio:

Johanna Byrd, ACSW, CAE, IOM is currently the Executive Director for the National Association of Social Workers, Pennsylvania Chapter, where she has served for 6 years. She has worked for NASW for 24 years in a variety of positions, including as the Director of Government Affairs and Special Projects for NASW Florida Chapter, and the Executive Manager for the NASW Virgin Islands Chapter. Johanna graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Christian University with a BA in religion studies and a BSW, and received her MSW in social work administration from Florida State University. She has served as an adjunct instructor in Social Welfare Policy and Programs, Community and Organizational Change, and Introduction to Social Work at Florida State University. Johanna is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Society of Association Excellence. Recently, she served as Chair of the NASW's Council of Chapter Executives, and served on the Small Staff Association Committee for the American Society of Association Executives for two terms. She earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from ASAE in 2017 and her Institute for Organization Management (IOM) designation from the US Chamber of Commerce in 2016. She has received professional awards including the NASW Council of Chapter Executives Gilman-Wells Award, the TCU Social Work Alumni of the Year, the FSU Distinguished Social Policy and Administration Alumni Award, and the TSAE Association Professional of the Year.

Bio: Lisa Miller joined NASW-PA in April 2023.  Prior to joining NASW-PA Lisa worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager at Bosler Memorial Library.  Lisa has 25+ years of experience as an administrative assistant working primarily for non-profits and has a strong understanding of social services agencies in the southcentral part of our region.  In her spare time she likes to read, cook and garden.

Alicia serves as the Continuing Education Specialist. She manages workshop proposals and CE certificates.

Bio:
Alicia Newkam holds a high school degree from Harrisburg High School and an associate's degree in human services from Harrisburg Area Community College. She has worked for the past seven years at NASW-PA, where she has fulfilled the position of continuing education specialist. Prior to joining NASW-PA, Alicia was a child care provider for more than 5 years. She is particularly interested in environmental and cultural issues.

Rachel Rhodes

Bio:
Rachel Rhodes graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the College of Communications with a degree in Journalism. Rachel started working at NASW-PA in July of 2019. She has a background in association work and experience recruiting and retaining student membership as well as working on programs with county/division groups and students. Her advances knowledge of social media and broadcasting began with her internship at a radio station in State College, PA and has enabled her to grow strong public communication skills. 

Rachel's professional career includes a passion for association work and specifically achieving membership growth. Her passion for association work began when she joined her first organized groups, the Pennsylvania Public Relations Society, and the Penn State Alumni Association, right out of college. She is an enthusiastic resource that can cheerfully guide you on how to get involved, spread the word, networking, support and connect.
