Overview

The NASW-Pennsylvania Chapter considers part of its mission to provide quality, affordable and diverse continuing education (CE) opportunities to professional social workers. Therefore, in addition to providing our own CE offerings, we also look for opportunities to approve appropriate CE offerings.

 

The decision to approve workshops is not made lightly. Issues of control over the quality of program content, control over the quality of presenters, availability of the program to a broad scope of the Chapter’s membership, and financial implications must be considered.

 

Approval is only for trainings/conferences in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and will only count for PA licenses.

 

Eligibility

This application is only for agencies seeking approval for programs. If you are an individual seeking credits for a program that is not approved, visit www.dos.pa.gov to download an Application for Individual Continuing Education Approval.

 

Policies

  • Program content must meet the social work continuing education requirements set forth by the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors

  • It must be clear that there will be no selection of participants that discriminates by reason of sex, age, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or other characteristics.

  • Brochures and other promotional materials must clearly indicate that the NASW-PA Chapter has approved the workshop for CEs. If the materials have been printed they should state that the NASW-PA Chapter is issuing the CEs.

 

Application Instructions

You must submit your completed NASW-PA CE Approval Proposal Form at least 4 weeks prior to the event you are seeking approval for. Your application will not be considered if received within 4 weeks of the CE event start date.

 

Approvals are for one event only. If you are seeking approval for multiple CE events, you must submit a completed NASW-PA CE Approval Proposal Form for each CE event you are seeking approval for. Subsequent approval of the same topic is dependent upon a review of the evaluation forms.

Post-Event Instructions (if approved)

The sponsoring agency is responsible for submitting sign in sheets, evaluations, and payment (if necessary) within two weeks of the event's completion. CE certificates will not be sent to event attendees until all outstanding forms/payments are remitted to the NASW-PA Chapter.

 

What NASW-PA Provides (if approved)

  • Registration information on the Chapter's events calendar
  • 10% discount off any NASW-PA Chapter mailing list order
  • Letter of Acceptance, sign-in sheets, and evaluation forms e-mailed to contact person
  • CE certificates mailed or e-mailed to participants unless otherwise requested
  • We will hold workshop records for the State-required 5 years

 

CE Certificate Fees

For certificates claiming less than 13 CE credits:

  • $15 per member
  • $25 per non-member

For certificates claiming 13 or more CE credits:

  • $25 per member
  • $45 per non-member
