The State of Mental Health - PA Masonic Youth Foundation

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Institutes of Health Youth report the mental health of U.S. children and teens is in crisis. The crisis is fueled by increasing rates of anxiety, depression and suicidality among adolescents with schools and agencies addressing complex emotional, behavioral, and social needs of our youth. The current data is concerning, with 40% of high-school students reporting persistent sadness or hopelessness, 18% have experienced major depression and 10% had attempted suicide This workshop examines the most significant mental health trends affecting children and adolescents, including rising rates of anxiety and depression, the impact of chronic stress, loneliness and social isolation, and digital and social media pressures.
