Companion animal death often goes unrecognized as a significant loss, despite its life changing impact on pet owners’ biopsychosocial-spiritual welfare. This interactive, case-based course examines the unique human-animal bond loss experience in connection with best practice approaches in well-being enhancing adult grief treatment. Utilizing case studies and colleague dialogue attendees will apply the approaches and methods to practice.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the companion animal bereavement experience and the biopsychosocial-spiritual effect on well-being in relation to assessment and treatment.
2. Discuss disenfranchised grief in connection with companion animal loss assessment and treatment.
3. Describe best practice approaches in grief treatment across therapeutic processes utilizing case studies.
4. Apply the grief treatment approaches and best practices to practice through case study analysis.
