Pa Masonic Youth Foundation Presents Breaking the Cycle: Bullying, Trauma and the Brain Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 9am - 12pm
Live Webinar
Course Objectives
Bullying and cyberbullying can have a profound impact on youth’s mental health, relationships and the developing brain. Chronic bullying has been found to impact specific regions of the brain, including the amygdala and prefrontal cortex, leading to chronic emotional stress, compromised mental health and physical and social dysfunction. Stress hormones released during chronic bullying have been found to change the circuitry in the reward centers of the brain, increasing risk for issues with substance use. The good news the networks and circuitry in the brain have the ability to change over time in response to the environment. This workshop will: - Explore bullying as a stressor and it’s impacts brain development
- Examine bullying as a form of trauma and the effect on mental and physical health
- Review effective strategies and resources to address bullying and cyberbullying, build resilience and promote health and well-being.
