Course Objectives ● Analyze the historical foundations of the Second Amendment and the role of Supreme Court decisions in shaping its contemporary meaning. ● Identify cultural constructs that inform gun ownership and related social practices. ● Critically examine empirical data on gun violence, with attention to disparities across populations. ● Acquire applied skills in trauma-informed care to support survivors of gun violence. ● Evaluate the concept of national trauma, considering whether Americans are collectively experiencing trauma and the behavioral manifestations of this phenomenon.
