Strategies for Empowering Persons Living with a Terminal Condition Persons navigating a terminal condition often experience a loss of hope, control, and self-worth in connection with the unwillingly chosen biopsychosocial-spiritual changes occurring. This interactive, case-based session discusses empirically-based empowerment strategies that foster a shift from passive victim to active engager in life perspective, retaining of dignity, and restoring of hope. Drawing on Corr’s Task-Based Model of Coping with Dying, the session outlines practical methods and best practices for advancing the well-being of dying persons across therapeutic processes utilizing person-centered approaches. Learning Objectives: - Explain the relevance of a task-based treatment approach to enhancing terminally-ill person’s well-being.
- Analyze Corr’s Task-Based Model of Coping with Dying in relation to best practices in assessment and treatment.
- Discuss practical strategies for enhancing terminally ill person’s well-being specific to each domain of the Model.
