Pardon Me: A Documentary Film Screening and Panel Discussion on Pardons in Pennsylvania

Course Objectives

 

1 in 3 Americans has a criminal background costing 280 billion dollars a year in lost earnings. A solution exists, Pardons! Come watch a compelling documentary (https://www.pardonsnow.org/) and engage with attendees about a solution and the fight to scale one of the largest human rights campaigns in America! This is a vital session for understanding social action in social work and community empowerment.

 

  1. Define what a Pardon is and the human rights issue facing returning citizens
  2. Identify the impact and current challenges of community activism in addressing Pardon issues.
  3. Develop awareness of resources and the role of social workers in advocating for and supporting communities affected by the criminal justice system.
