Martin Luther King Jr.

At a time when we are fighting many of the injustices that Dr. King fought, we should let this date serve as a reminder of his words when he spoke of the promised land during his final speech…

“I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land.”

As professional social workers, it is our responsibility to help lead our communities toward this destination through our forms of practice. Whether our level is micro or macro, whether our work concerns psychotherapy or policy, we all have a hand in pushing our society closer to the place that Dr. King spoke of before he left us too soon. As a Chapter, as a membership of 4800 strong, and as a profession; we will continue to accept this responsibility, and our role in leading our Commonwealth toward the promised land.
