SaraKay Smullens, bestselling author of Whoever Said Life is Fair?: A Guide to Growing Through Life's Injustices and Setting YourSelf Free: Breaking the Cycle of Emotional Abuse in Family, Friendships, Work and Love, and recipient of the 2013 NASW Media Award, is now turning even greater attention to the looming reality of burnout in the field of social work. The book will focus on effective strategies of self-care that can help social workers persevere and prosper.

SaraKay is looking for interview subjects to respond to a short questionnaire and if applicable agree to a follow-up interview (30-45 minutes). Confidentiality is guaranteed, and all identifying details will be changed to meet the interviewee's approval. In accordance with National Institute of Health guidelines, no payment is offered to those willing to assist in this research, but each qualified respondent will receive a copy of the book when published by NASW Press in Fall 2015. In addition, those participating will have the benefit of knowing they helped many other social workers to navigate this tricky terrain!
