Yoga practitioners discovered over a thousand years ago, that the breath is the link between mind and body. Anxiety creates a held breath; depression causes a slow and labored breath and a common form of dysfunctional breathing is reverse breathing causing a higher level of stress. Pranayama or breathing practices is the knowledge of how to use the breath to reverse these and other conditions and enjoy optimum wellness. Breathwork has become an effective modality for therapists to include in their practices.
