Living with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Event Details

This seminar takes you into the mind of a person living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The presenter, Dr. Patrick V. Suglia, is the author of "The Doctor Is In" and a contributing author to "Been There. Done That. Try This!". In this seminar, Dr. Suglia speaks from personal experience about what it's like growing up with and having autism.

During the first hour, the basics of autism are explained. What is it? How is it diagnosed? What are the possible causes? During the second hour, Dr. Suglia talks about the most common social and learning challenges that most people with Autism Spectrum Disorder face, as outlined in the book "The Unwritten Rules of Social Relationships" by Dr. Temple Grandin and Sean Barron. The third and fourth hours will include medical and non-medical interventions to help the person with Autism Spectrum Disorder be more functional and healthy. During the fourth hour, the floor is opened up to Q&A and open discussion.
