Steps to Receive an LCSW with the ACSW

For those who want to apply to take the LCSW test based on the option created by House Bill 816, you need to hold a current ACSW that was first earned before 2001. If you meet this requirement follow the steps below to apply for the LCSW examination:

  1. Access the LCSW application by clicking on the "Licensing & Ethics" tab above.
  2. Fill out the LCSW application with the ACSW credential used in lieu of the 3000 supervised clinical hours.
  3. In order to verify your ACSW credential, you must contact the NASW Credentialing Center at 202-408-8600 x447 or credentialing@naswdc.org.
  4. You will then be given information to complete a consent for release form to verify your ACSW.
  5. If you are a NASW-PA member, the traditional $45 LCSW application fee will be waived.
  6. If your application is accepted, you will be notified by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)  on dates and times to take your LCSW examination.
