While our House Bill, HB 1415, is currently sitting in the House Professional Licensure Committee our Senate Bill (number coming soon!) has been introduced with a substantial list of co-sponsors. The Senate Bill is a companion bill to HB 1415, meaning that it is identical except it is in the Senate.

As many of you already know, these two bills focus on practice protection for licensed social workers and the addition of "diagnosis" to the scope of LCSW practice. To learn more about practice protection please visit www.nasw-pa.org/advocacy

In order to pass this legislation, we need as much support as possible! We encourage you to write or call your legislators' offices and ask for their support for these bills. We have found that calling your legislators is the most effective way to gain their attention. When calling, it is important to make sure you have a grasp on what bill you are supporting and a brief explanation of why you support it. See THIS VIDEO for an example of what to expect when calling / how to call your legislator. It's much easier than many people think!
