Becoming a Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Clients

 

Learning Objectives:
- Explain the differences between gender identity, gender expression, sex, and sexual orientation, as well as express understanding of the identities within the LGBTQ+ acronym

- Identify at least four aspects of intersectionality impacting identity as it relates to both the therapist
engaging with clients and the clients entering therapy

- Identify at least three components of creating a safe space for LGBTQ+ clients and providing affirming
care to members of the community

- Identify three clinical areas that are common areas of need for LGBTQ+ clients as well as contributing
factors this community faces that increase their vulnerability to mental health difficulties.
