Familylinks Presents:

The Impact of Addiction on Children

In families where alcohol or other drugs are being abused, parental behavior is frequently unpredictable and communication is unclear.  Family life is characterized by chaos and the only thing that is predictable is unpredictability.  Structure and rules may be either nonexistent or inconsistent.  In order to survive the chaos children develop characteristics which help them to combat the feelings of confusion and insecurity.  This interactional training will assist professionals will identifying the most common characteristics and behavioral issues as well as identifying interactions that enhance and hinder development.
